The Value Added Tax after the entering of Bulgaria in the EU

After Bulgaria becomes a member of the EU there will be three regimes in force for the taxation of VAT in the country:

*regime for levying of the supplies made within the territory of the state;

*regime of levying of those supplies made between Bulgaria and the other members of the EU;

*regime of levying of supplies made between Bulgaria and countries outside the borders of the EU.

The financial limits are becoming higher

The financial limits for the small and medium-sized firms are climbing up. A middle company will be one with an annual circulating capital up to 97.5 mil. BGN and with up to 250 personnel. A small-sized firm will be one with up to 19.5 mil. BGN and up to 50 employees. The firms with an annual circulating capital to 3.9 mil. BGN with up to 10 workers will be treated as micro companies.

With the changes the criteria will be standardized with those in the EU. This will make easier for the firms to apply for financial aid from the euro funds after entering the EU.
